How to Convert RAW to PSD

PSD is Photoshop's native format, and many photographers already work with Adobe Camera Raw or Lightroom to process RAW files before bringing them into Photoshop for further editing, retouching, or compositing. Converting RAW to PSD performs the demosaicing step and saves the result as a single-layer PSD file, which is a useful starting point if you want to begin building layers, adjustments, or composites in Photoshop without it needing to handle RAW decoding itself.

This is essentially a workflow convenience rather than something that adds editing flexibility beyond what the original RAW file already offered — once demosaiced into PSD, you're working with a standard flattened image that you can then layer additional edits on top of.
